I'm gonna ask this here since it's somewhat relevant and not worth a new thread. Are the Masterworks a finite series? Finite as in there will be a set number of volumes? Or does Marvel just keep on putting new volumes out on whatever whim makes sense to them?

I ask cause on Amazon, they show pre-orders for Marvel Masterworks not yet listed on this site. I don't know if all the volumes that will ever be released has been defined yet or if it's a mystery to all of us.

No, as far as we know the MMW series is not finite. It does seem as if the Golden Age and Atlas era may be at an end, or at least that they are winding way down with those lines, but there has been no official announcement and it is generally assumed that they are cutting back on GA and Atlas because of falling sales numbers and the higher costs involved in producing them. There was one Atlas volume last year, and there is one rumored for this year.

About the only thing that seems relatively reliable is that there is one volume released per month (as of the last couple years) on about a two year title rotation. Spider-man, Avengers, Thor and FF are usually annual release and the rest are generally every other year. Also there is typically one new title introduced every year. That's about it. Cory has indicated that the line is planned well into the future, although the line theoretically could all come to a close at any time.
