Some people would be happy with laws telling them how many times they have to poop each day and a gun carrying cop there to watch them.

BTW $200 is a bargain for those GIT DVDs. Most include 500+ comics. That works out to $0.40 per comic which isn't unreasonable for scans of material that isn't 100% available through legal means. Clean digital comics are typically $2 each. If you don't like it then don't buy it.

Nah, I would, however, love to see laws that put a curb to unethical behavior and greed disguised as "free market capitalism." I'm not communist, and don't begrudge rich folk, but it is amusing to me how ethics, and even morality, go right out the proverbial window if money is involved; even among those oh so wonderful Church going conservatives we all hold in such high esteem.

And I have to take issue that it's a bargain since they were originally priced at around $40 bucks a piece. Apparently even GIT and Marvel felt that charging $200 bucks would be too much to justify!
I own them all and I remember them being $50 but that doesn't really matter.  Also I doubt Marvel had any control over the pricing.  We do know that GIT was surprised when Marvel didn't allow them to renew the license.  This was at the same time Marvel was building it's own digital platform.  I'm guessing Marvel felt their content was undervalued at 10¢ a comic.

Also, I don't understand at all how ethics come into play in my decision to list a price for a book.  No one has to buy it.  I'm not colluding with others to jack up the price like Apple did when they rolled out iBooks.  I'm just putting a price out there and if someone wants it they can buy it.

Sure it probably isn't "ethical" to laugh at people like yourself who whine about prices on the second market but I honestly don't understand your mentality.  You couldn't be bothered (or didn't know about it) in the first place and now you want something that is supposedly rare and in-demand for a pittance.  Give me a break!  When I wanted (needed) a copy of the out of print old Prince Valiant 3 & 4 I paid $80 each and I didn't whine.  I was happy to get them.  The complaints about OOP MMW are even more pathetic because anyone who just wants to read the stories can find them in many different formats.

Back to my copy of the MMW Doctor Strange trade.  If it doesn't sell it's my fault for pricing it wrong or not advertising correctly.  I'm not going to blame Marvel for having the audacity to print a new version and drive the value of my book down.  On the other hand if someone wants to buy it my copy is currently the lowest priced one available on Amazon.  A buyer might be happy to see one is available.
