I know everybody has a 'golden age' when they first fell in love with comics, so the early '90's Image-ripoff styles may cause sentimentality. However, at that point, I had been reading comics for quite some time before that, and when EVERYTHING began looking like a Liefeld's assistant's art thru a funhouse mirror, it was tough to stay a comics fan. Everything started to look the same, a lot of ugly art, imho. For a while I jumped over to DC, as they hadn't quite succumbed to the fashion. Thankfully, some time later, Marvel had Ron Garney on Cap and Silver Surfer (w/Dematties, a run I'd like to see collected) and Chris Bachalo. Even though I had to get used to the Manga style was beginning to replace the Image-ripoff look, at least it was more professional looking.
