It's less about his principles than what (at a guess) he expects might be achieved. If everyone -- or, let's say, most everyone -- already knows he was responsible for this work, I don't see that this is accomplishing anything, principles or no.

(And to be clear: I don't find fault with his views, and I’m not advocating that he be denied the right to act upon them, I just don't see the point in this specific instance.)
