The EC Archives, for my money, set a new standard for comic collections. Its obvious that the Cochran crew put alotta thought and care into the presentation. TWO-FISTED and CRYPT were delivered here yesterday and both books look great.

I'm happy to hear you think so highly of the books. We're taking a lot of pride in producing them and hearing feedback like yours is a great reward.

My questions dont have to do with design, but maybe youll field them anyway:
Do the artists or their surviving families receive any financial compensation and/or complimentary copies of these books?

I'm not sure of the contract details Gemstone (if any) has with the surviving artists and families. I do know that when Russ was publishing the EC Library he sent money to them, but you have to remember that Gemstone bought Russ's EC publishing business and Russ works for them now. I do know that Al Feldstein is signing the leather editions of the Archives and he is being paid for that. I'm also positive that Russ is sending copies of the books to Marie, Jack Davis, Al Williamson, Jack Kamen and the Gaines family. All of them are thrilled with the Archives.

Are libraries showing interest in the EC Archives? University libraries? Public libraries?
The Marshall Library?

Libraries are a big part of this whole venture and Russ has taken it upon himself to get the books in every library he possibly can. When he struck the deal to publish these and got the permission of the Gaines family, they wanted to make sure the books reached libraries and schools to be an educational tool. I think we all love the irony of these comics reaching institutions of learning, when 50 years ago they were being burned, outlawed and accused of corrupting children's minds.
