I had been pretty turned off by Marvel's "policies" dating back to the Shooter purge of the early/mid 80s. Marvel stayed pretty much "dead to me" for years, especially through the horrendous 90s!

When Quesada came on board with Kevin Smith on Daredevil, and the first few of the first Marvel Knights books (Inhumans, Black Panther) hit the racks ... I saw a glimmer of hope! Heck, I even started buying a few Marvels again. When Busiek and Perez relaunched the Avengers (along with Busiek's Thunderbolts), I thought just maybe the Marvel I loved years ago was coming back.

Then came ... s*h*u*d*d*e*r ... the team of Bill Jemas and Joe Quesda at the top of the Marvel foochain. At that point, in my humble opinion, the quality of Marvel comics took a nose dive ...especially when Mark Millar and Brian Bendis got to run amok and give us their takes on the Marvel Universe. (In all fairness, I really did enjoy Bendis' Daredevil.)

I could not stand Bendis' Avengers, the House of M mess, Brubaker's slow-as-molasses Captain America, and most of all ... Reggie Hudlin's Black Panther. When I started reading about this whole Civil War thing, that's when I dropped nearly every Marvel I was reading.

I suppose I'm one of a handful of fans who feels this way, 'cuz Marvels seem to be selling like crazy. I guess that shows you what I know, eh?
