As seen above, the initial fan reaction to Adam Strange was overwhelming, and the response led editor Schwartz to make some changes. Starting with #71, Adam's stories doubled in length to about 16 pages, giving the creative team some elbow room, and Julie made sure to note it in that issue's column. There was also a very practical consideration raised by a fan named Richard West - how exactly did Mr. Strange get his jet-pack through customs in his travels?:



The following issue, Julie followed suit by doubling up the letter column, and adding the masthead "Via Rocket Mail" to further brand it. He also added some intriguing behind-the-scenes info about an Infantino goodwill tour of overseas army bases, and, thanks to fan Ken Gentry, began handing out original Adam Strange artwork to readers, carrying over a practice he had been doing in The Flash columns for some time. The transformation to a fan forum was now complete:
