Reaction to the GL/Flash "Major Disaster" tale was lukewarm at best. It seems that increasingly around this time Gardner Fox's plots suffered from lack of clarity, and this particular story was symptomatic of this problem. Philip Cobb ripped it unmercifully, while Mr. Flesher (maybe not wanting to jeopardize his regular spot in Julie's rotation) was more diplomatic:


In issue 47's LC, it seems that John Broome's Jordan Brothers tale was a big hit with the readers (and why not? I always thought those stories were one of the high points of this series!). Clifton Torrance didn't like the idea of GL's power ring getting too "smart" for its own good, but that trend wouldn't be changing, as we'll soon see:
