What's interesting about that Masterworks-versus-original comparison is that even though the ink probably spread a bit on newsprint, it still hasn't gained so much as to more closely resemble the source material for the reprint. (Even so, I think consternation over that level of detail is mostly unnecessary.)

Like most any photographic process, the results you get from a stat camera depend on the expertise -- you want an exposure that will capture the detail (particularly when an image needs to be reduced), but you don't want to pick up cutlines (the edges of pasted-on paper), or corrections, or stuff that would have to be painted out (particularly on film). And the chemistry has to be right, too (though that was easy to deal with by the time I came to using one).
