But is it really necessary to seek out a solution that shouldn't be a problem to begin with when the majority of this board at the time was AGAINST the spine change.

There was (were?) all kinds of hew and cry that this change was going to doom -- doom, I tells ya! -- the Masterworks, that sales already hanging by a thread would undoubtedly suffer as a consequence, and catastrophe was imminent. But that never really happened. Pre-orders on the first volume with the revised spine logo were indeed lower, but not out-of-line with the kinds of sequential volume-over-volume declines people had been documenting (and obsessing over).

Turns out the outraged and the disgruntled either A.) don't make up a significant part of the people buying Masterworks, and/or B.) they weren't really, truly willing to follow through on their threats to stop buying the books.
