Geeze Louise Widele. You must buy all kinds of stuff at regular value all the time and fix it up!

Faux Leather couch with a tear in the arm for full price $650----who cares...pay it I'll reholpolstry it!

Custom framing only $300 with broken glass----pffft I'll just replace the glass

$200 for a Bowen Designs Hulk statue with a missing arm----Egad I don't care just she'll out the dough and I'll replace the arm.

What's that honey you just realized that necklace we just bought for $850 is missing a gemstone---who cares keep it ill pay for them to put a new one in.

Wrong color tile?!?---we'll just make a mosaic don't send it back.

The car has leather interior in the front and fabric in the back---for the love of God just pay the damn man what he's asking we'll take care of it later.

Who cares about cosmetic appearances of things I'll just keep buying and restoring cause that's how I roll.
Your examples are all legitimate defects on expensive items which replacing or fixing is costly and/or timeconsuming and difficult. A book with a slightly different spine isn't defective and the solution, if one were so inclined, is very simple and inexpensive.

I think if someone spends that much time looking at their perfectly organized and matching book spines they should just print images of spines onto a cardboard box and stick that on their shelf. Much less expensive.
