They did issues 1-8.  The first issues adapted the four stories in Conan of Aquilonia.  5-8 were an adaptation of Conan the Avenger that was supposed to appear starting in Conan Annual #6, but ended up here.

I don't know if they'd go back and change the earlier volumes.  Between the covers, the coloring and missing issues (they skipped the Red Sonja stories in the 40s and 60s), they were a mess and need a lot of work.  Later editors got things on track, and I suppose reverting to original coloring allows them to get the volumes out quicker.  They still have quite a ways to go.
