I don't have a huge interest in the GA MMWs anyway, I will buy some of the volume 1s in TPB out of curiosity mostly.
I doubt I'll buy any of the Atlas Era ones.
My main interest is with the Silver & Marvel Age ones and they have been beautifully restored in the MMW TPBs so far, I'm loving them.

I feel the same way in regards to the content, and the great quality, of the paperbacks.

In regards to the longevity of the MMW program ... well, no one knows for sure how long any "tangible" books will be around--hard cover or soft--but they've survived this long in the computer and electronic reader age so I don't think they're in any immediate danger of becoming extinct. Even if it were to happen in 15 or 20 years, which I doubt, that should still give me ample time to have collected all the Silver Age stories.

But I think people will always want the "power supply-independant" joy of reading an actual printed book. (In the event of a global outtage, you could while away your neo-caveman days by reading from your library ... by candlelight if necessary! ) Personally, as a longtime comic book fan who was enticed to the medium because of a real honest-to-goodness floppy comic, I prefer the softcover Masterworks because they still have that limp comic book "feel" to them.

I started out collecting the "marble look" hardcover Masterworks in the beginning because that was the only format offered. I was grateful just to be reading the stories, but holding them in a hardcover always felt strange somehow, and (subconsciously) took away some of the fun. With all the cover changes made to the hardcover MWs over its stop-and-start history, I was very pleased with the rolling out of the new painted cover line of softcovers. Great quality and in my preferred format, I jumped right on and I'm here for the ride as long as it lasts!
