With a bit of mixing and matching of formats, the majority of material can be assembled in one format or another. But that would play merry hell with my collecting habits, and possibly many others here too smile.gif.

Agreed.  It's not like Marvel is forcing anyone to wait decades for these volumes.  For the most part* they're all available in other formats if getting to read them now is more important than having them in your preferred format.  And honestly, do you really think Marvel will still be producing softcovers 8-10 years from now?  That's a big gamble to make IMO.  For example, 9 years is a long time to wait for the most recent Daredevil volume to be released in softcover (as mentioned above), when you could pick it up right now in HC for less than $25.

Unlike, say, the people waiting for the final volumes of Strange Tales or the second Venus volume.  Those people have no option but to wait (and wait...and wait...and wait) in order to have those books on their shelves.

* "for the most part" becomes less and less the case the longer one waits as Marvel blows out their back stock of the HC's and omnibuses, and we end up with more situations like Sgt Fury Vol. 1 where there's no reasonable options other than a) get lucky or b) wait for the softcover.
