I'm just now catching up to the commentary here about the GA Torch Masterworks. I checked in with Cory, but between his workload and personal stuff going on, he hasn't had any time to be on the boards to answer directly, but he did offer up this disappointing news concerning the GA Torch softcover:

"Unfortunately, I haven't been able to obtain source/original issues for GA Human Torch Vol. 1 TPB that come anywhere near being viable for the book's budget. Specifically, an affordable copy of Human Torch #2 (#1) has eluded us. Restoration on the GA Cap Vol. 1 and GA Subby Vol. 1 TPBs was made possible, in part, by landing very low-cost copies of the first issues.

What this means to readers is that GA Torch Vol. 1 TPB will feature the restoration overseen by original GA Masterworks editor, Mark Beazley, rather than new restoration. The TPB will still include the bonus features seen in the previous GA TPBs: updated art credits research by historian Dr. Michael Vassallo along with period house ads, etc."

So there you have it.
