In economics, this is called "the race to the bottom" unless some form of scarcity is introduced, such as greater exclusivity via lower print runs on the newer stock and allowing material to go out of print for an extended period. Otherwise, customers do not feel compelled to get the new book now.

Think how Disney does it with their backlist of animated features: re-released for a short period of time, then back in the vault. Get it now before it's gone for another 10 years.

That makes sense, oh well, i just hope Marvel keeps the gig going
