I like the idea of it being like the paper for FF 1 first print because I think that looks a lot better than the more glossy paper. But durability is a major factor for me. I am very careful with my books, but I live with cats. Lots of cats. Crazy cats that always jump up into my lap when I am reading. I also like to read outside sometimes and thinner pages could be bad on a windy day. Guess I'll just check it out and see.

The new paper is nothing like the paper in the first print FF 1 or UXM 1. That paper was textured with a really nice, cream-colored tone, about the best possible paper to use for these books.

The new paper in the IM omni is ultra-thin, white-white, and smooth/non-textured. Not awful by any means, but it's not anything special. And it's so thin you feel like you're going to rip the pages when you turn them...but so far no rips on mine. It -is- an improvement over the glossier paper that was used in the past. The matte appearance helps to tone down the colors a bit.
