Regarding IDW, I recently read the first volume of RIP KIRBY that I bought when it came out (2010??). Anywoo, I was a fan of Raymond's art since discovering him via the Kitchen Sink reprints in the late part of the 20th century. The writing bored me to dayethy. Anytwhoo, after FINALLY reading it I was greately impressed. The writing was fun and brisk. The art started off okay....which is understandable, Raymond had just returned from the war. But it ended up being amazing, and the influence of Caniff (and Sickles) was evident. Sadly though, throughout the book, you could see lesser hands taking control. But it's a great strip never the less.
