I kept up with deminishing returns with SNL since the very first episode. Almost each set of players have had both hits and misses. And some years you had to be very "nice" to find any winners. That said SNL is sort of like MAD magazine in so much that it works best as topical satire which means after a period of time ( some time a week, or less and some times a few years) is loses its punch. My reason for hardly ever watching anymore is that FAR too often now smart satire has given way to smirky 12 year old cheap attempts for laughs. In other words it's the writing stupid. Or stupid writing that keeps me from tuning in nowadays.
