This may sound unusual here, but Marvel's production of the omni line has actually compelled me back into the Bronze Age back-issue market as an alternative. I'm not interested in Masterworks on steroids, and though I love Man-Thing, made the decision not to order the tome when the projected line-up included the non-Gerber Volume 2. Instead, I sought and bought the original series of MT Vol. 1 comic books. I also did the same thing recently with Werewolf By Night, anticipating the eventual over-stuffed, back-breaking treatment. My current buying habits are influenced from experience, as I do own a few omnis -- TOD 1 & 2, Howard the Duck and the Silver Surfer... but I think the latter is the perfect omni size. So to me, Frankenstein, Tower/Chamber and even Not Brand Echh would make reasonable omnis, while WBN would be too big. But I agree with the post suggesting that a WBN Masterworks line might suffer from the Ploog to Perlin transition (though some latter stories were intriguing).
