Honestly, I think a book like that would sell in modest numbers, but probably not generate the interest that DC would like to see. (Even the Kirby books -- and that's a name with much more value -- do only slightly better than "modest numbers" these days.) So I can understand the hesitance.

When all is said and done, pick your favorite-book-that-you-want-to-see-published, and chances are, there's something else that will require the same amount of effort and expense that will sell better. In an era where these kinds of books sell in diminishingly small numbers, it becomes more difficult to make the case for taking a chance.
