I bought a bunch of Hardcovers during the initial reMasterwork and I wasn't satisfied so I sold them all and didn't buy any more for years. I also bought all the paperback Prince Valiants but now I'm buying the Hardcovers. The way I see it the product I'm buying at this moment is what needs to satisfy me. I'm not upset that Marvel or Fantagraphics or even DC put out some ugly books because it was up to me to buy them or not. For Prince Valiant it was worth it. That said -- having been burned I have much less patience for poor quality and really don't buy much anymore. I would have been all over the sand Superman or the NTT omnibus but the errors were too much for me.

You say your not upset because it was up to you to buy them or not. True, you chose to buy them. But if you're like most of us, you're buying these books and trusting you'll be sent a quality product. Most of us are buying these books mail order, sight unseen. Many of the books are wrapped in plastic so you can't peruse the book to judge its quality even if you see it at your LCS. So, I agree with FFF, that you ought to expect the best possible presentation when you drop $50, $60 or $70+ on some of these books.
