The Fantastic Four
#52, July 1966 [published 12 Apr 66]
“The Black Panther!” - Script: Stan Lee; Art: Jack Kirby; Inking: Joe Sinnott; Lettering: Sam Rosen
A great, old-timey, 1940s-style splash page.
It’s hard to go back in time and think of the influence Marvel was having on pop culture; but it was phenomenal. As I proposed, back in 1961
Fantastic Four
#1 and
Amazing Adult Fantasy
#7 were aimed, not at the 7-year-olds who usually consumed comic book fare, but at what nowadays we would call Middle School students; and that an effort was also being made to write realistic human emotions. I wish I could sleep like Wyatt Wingfoot. I don’t even know the last time I got 7 hours straight.
The Black Panther certainly knows how to make an entrance.
Pop culture reference:
Lawrence Welk.
The Panther certainly has an impressive arsenal.
Note:
The Black Panther has knock-out gas concealed in his glove.
Anarchy and Chaos are the natural state of the human race. Civilization is unnatural. It is a whim of circumstance. And Chaos must always ultimately triumph.
