Just keep the console as an artifact. First of all, you'll not get the bang for the buck trying to upgrade the sound of your console because you will necessarily be constrained by your console's limitations, e.g. the speakers being too close together and the record platter picking up vibrations from the speakers since the turntable shares the same cabinet with the speakers. Secondly changing anything will reduce the console's value as a collectors item. So get any necessary servicing/repairs to the existing component parts done, but don't go beyond that.
