I enjoyed FFWGCM, but I wish it had been published as originally planned with that original, unused Kirby artwork. Larsen salvaged the project pretty well considering that the key ingredient couldn't be used.
Are you sure that was the original intention behind the project?  I thought that the bulk of the Kirby pages left behind went into Fantastic Four: Lost Adventure.

That's what Eric Larsen told me at Heroes Con in Charlotte. I told him I enjoyed the series and he told me thanks but that he was disappointed that he couldn't use the Kirby art that he had originally been told he could.
It wasn't the same stuff from Lost Adventure, it was a bunch of Kirby pin-up pages of F4 characters. Iirc, the series was kind of written around those full page pin-ups so they could be sprinkled throughout the series, but when they couldn't be used, the other artists on the book drew replacements. I'm not sure how far along in the process Larsen was before he found out, but if I had to guess I'd say it was fairly early in the process but far enough along that Marvel let him finish it.
