At the risk of making Hepcat freak out, I use a cheapy Numark PT-01 portable player that hooks to my shelf stereo system & converts vinyl to MP3.

Sound quaility is not a huge issue for me as most of what I listen to is loud, punk & garage rock type music.

But I will keep this thread bookmarked for if/when I upgrade.

I also really like the old 1960s & 1970s console players. Not for sound, but because they're such interesting relics. I see tons at antique malls around Ohio.

In fact, I got this off Craig's List a year or so ago (it's a combo coffee table, record player, radio). The stereo part pulls out from underneath the coffee table marble. The turntable needs fixed, though.
