Fantastic Four #33, December 1964 [published 8 Sept 64]  Yeah! I bought this one off the racks!

Jack Kirby’s first photo montage cover; and rather than take a chance of it not reproducing well, it did not appear in “Now on Sale” ads this month.

“Side-by-Side with Sub-Mariner!” - 20pp - Script: Stan Lee; Art: Jack Kirby; Inking: Chic Stone; Lettering: Art Simek

I continue to enjoy the work of Chic Stone, but based on the scans I’ve seen posted here I have to guess that reproduction of his style in the Masterwork line has been very poor!

On page four an Atlantean High Priest appears. This makes me wonder more about their culture.

Jack gives Sue a more natural-looking hairdo in this issue. It’s okay but I would have preferred something more like mid-’60s Mama Michelle Phillips.

This is one of many stories that makes me wonder about the buoyancy of the Atlantians. They walk upon the ocean floor but they also swim. But you or I would float unless we were weighted down!

This story sports a beautiful full page photo montage.

At the top of page 18, Sue still appears to admire Namor

Anarchy and Chaos are the natural state of the human race. Civilization is unnatural. It is a whim of circumstance. And Chaos must always ultimately triumph.
