My Recent Posts
We are now up to what would have been my fifth grade year. I do remember talking to a friend about collecting Marvels. I remember saying that
I’d found at least one issue of all the Marvels except for
X-Men
and
Strange Tales
. I’d find copies of those pretty soon.
I would have trouble finding many of the Marvel line during that year, having more success with some titles then with others. Again,
distribution
for Marvel in
Omaha
was
absolutely horrendous.
Fantastic Four
– from September through May I would only miss #37 (
Behold a Distant Star
) and #41 (
The Brutal Betrayal of Ben Grimm
).
Spider-Man
– I would have worse luck with this title, during this school year I would only be able to find #22-23 and 27. I was in
City News and Book
when I heard one kid ask another how issue #26 was. The reply was that the second kid didn’t like it because it was continued, so I didn’t get it. I did however find part two the following month.
Oh well.
Avengers
- I would have trouble collecting the original Avengers as I missed getting #11-12 and #15, but got all the adventures of the
All-New All-Different Avengers
.
X-Men
– during this period I only missed #10,
the first appearance of Ka-Zar.
Daredevil
– I didn’t miss any of those great
Wally Wood
issues during this period.
Journey into Mystery
– after falling in love over the summer with this character I would have a lot of trouble collecting this title. I would get #110 and #112
but not get my hands on another issue
until #118.
Ouch!
Tales of Suspense
–
yes!
I would have trouble getting these, as I missed issue #62-65 over the winter months.
Tales to Astonish
– I won’t be sure until I read these, but I think I got most of them, only missing #63, #66 and #70. I’m a little iffy on rather or not I found #68-69. I’ll probably remember when I read them.
Strange Tales
- I did not find my first issue until #129. After that I only missed #132-133.
Sgt. Fury
– this one was really hit-and-miss for me. I missed #12-14 and #16-17, but got the rest.
I also started collecting the
Westerns
as of May 1965.
Anarchy and Chaos are the natural state of the human race. Civilization is unnatural. It is a whim of circumstance. And Chaos must always ultimately triumph.
