The only surprise I guess is why they chose the larger page count for a volume that I'm assuming will be a part of a longer run. Could the reason just be that they knew that they needed to start at #98 if they were going to do a Silver Age volume, and that they felt the stories didn't really get good until 108 or 109 or 110? So felt they should put those in there to make it more attractive? I am not familiar with these stories at all. Or is it trying to rush through some lackluster material to get to some classic stories that will be in volume 2?

I think most fans would tell you that what they're including in this first volume is the good material, or as good as it got during the Kanigher/Andru/Esposito run.

Not that the ensuing issues are so bad it would preclude them from doing further volumes if this one sells well.

So there's no reason to super-size this volume from a content standpoint that I can see. Probably just tinkering to see how it sells is my guess.
