I've already read most of my weekly haul, but instead of giving little reviews I just want to talk about the one that blew my mind. Matt Kindt's MIND MGNT #1
(BTW, I hope everyone here already read the three "Secret Files" prequels. They were, after all, free)
This has got to be THE comic of the year so far. (Maybe Hickman's THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS, or Vaughan's SAGA can compete for the title). It draws you in immediately, and I'm already chomping at the bit realizing I'll have to wait another 30 days to continue the story. If you're only interested in clear, linear storytelling you might as well save your money. If you're not into indie artwork, don't even bother. For those who are interested in something genuinely different, you could do a lot worse.
Jeff Lemire had been raving about this one on his Twitter account for the past week, but I just assumed he was pimping his friend's new project. Oh boy, was I wrong. This is simply genius!
Highest possible recommendation!
