Back in the 80's I gave a ride to a guy who, with a friend, had broken down on an expressway.  I took him to a convenience store for gas and had to circle around and take him back to the car.  Everything went fine.  A few months ago, a news story hit that a guy had given two young people a ride from a convenience store and the person in the back seat started stabbing him, threw him out and stole the car.  The victim had to smash the front window of a home, climb in and had the home owners help him.  These are different days.  I would think twice these days about offering help to someone and rarely give anyone money, as they now ask for $10 to $20 for a handout.  Yeah, right...
