The books along the top are my "portfolio" -- books that I worked on, but that I wouldn't have bought otherwise.

The books on the actual shelves are my collection -- which includes books that I worked on, that I would have bought anyway.

I worked on all of the Civil War tie-in HCs, but I only wanted a few of them for my actual collection. So those go on the shelves with the other HCs, and the rest go up top in the portfolio.

There's a method to the madness.

(And Stu, about my "wood problem" -- I bought each shelf about two years apart. They darken as they age, apparently.)
