The reboot appears to be successful in providing a coherent jumping on point for each of the three methods of distribution - single issue, collection and digital. Whilst the single issue sales look as if they have plateaued slightly above where they were at before the reboot, I should imagine that DC are seeing their future income mainly in terms of digital sales as they develop and with a range of collections - something like (for instance) Justice League will expect to go through the range of original hardcover, trade paperback, deluxe hardcover and ultimately Absolute or omnibus.

So hopefully this will be successful for DC. For me? I have just bought all issue 1s of the "New 52" now that a promotional price of 99c has been set, and having been reading them through the last week. I have to say that, whilst some are well crafted (Johns, Levitz, Lemire, Cornell and Snyder in particular) there are none that I am in a hurry to move onto issue 2 with. One notable feature is that there are no complete stories - they are all "Part 1 of 6" (or 5 or 7 or 8) - so a taster rather than a complete experience. So I wish them well, but I expect my next exposure will be with a 99c digital sale for some series (I expect I will have quite a wait, until all collections are published and sales start to drop) or a loan from the public library. A bit cheap, I know (I would say economical...) but DC have had many good years of buying from me, and I think 57 is well outside their target demographic. Now, where is that copy of Legion Archives 13?
