1.  If you like it, it's a success.  If you don't like it, it's a failure.  There are plenty of old farts who 'quit' DC because of it.  And there are plenty of people that jumped into DC because of it.  Same thing happened with Showcase #4.  Same thing happened with COIE.  Same thing happened with Star Trek Next Generation.  Old people die, young people take their place.  Nothing remains the same, so quit yer bellyachin'.  Out with the old, in with the new.  Don't trust anyone over 30.  Get off my lawn you damn kids.  yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah...

2. When the hell was the last time a main comic was written for kids 13+?  Try the early 1980s. The entire argument of "comics aren't written for kids" is tiresome.  A Wonder Woamn comic isn't written for kids?  Oh, give them one of the William Moulton Marston Wonder Woman comics.  'cause THAT one was written for your average 8 year old girl.  At least the average 8 year old girl that's into sadism and bondage.  Oh, FYI - the current Wonder Woman comic is not bad. Its no worse than Harry Potter or Hunger Games.

3. DC was moribund and needed an enema.  I just wish it had been stronger and really reached into the bowels of the DCU, and really started more things over.  But that would have alienated even more of the continuity whores, so they couldn't turn that hose on full blast.

4. Dollar sales are up.  More people are paying attention to DC.  Marvel is reacting heavily due to it (execs let go, AvX, and even more penny pinching).  How should the business judge success?   Do you realize the top five comics are averaging over 100,000 in monthly sales?  That DC ruled the top 10, until Marvel came out with their big event comic?  That DC is continuing to sell reprints of many of their titles in significant numbers (100+ a month)?  That sales for the entire industry is up?  That's not a failure, my friend.  That's no more a failure than the iPhone was a bad idea.

5. You want your DC classic back?  I want rotary phones, 25 cent gas, sex without the fear of HIV, and my ability to get out of bed in the morning without grunting.  Life changes, move on.  Read your old comics if you want to read something old.  You grump.
