ACTION COMICS #7: It's back to the opening story arc as Rags Morales returns for young Superman's confrontation with the Collector of Worlds. Some clever bits with Luthor trapped in the bottle and Brainiac's origins, but fairly pedestrian for a Morrison comic, especially after last issue's excellent outing. Interestingly enough, I think had this issue actually shipped in month five, then the conclusion to the Perez Superman arc in month six would have had a bit more impact since it was also playing off of the Collector of Worlds plot (and, instead, ended up feeling completely random).

ANIMAL MAN #7: Start of the new story arc that succeeds in being both a good jumping on point for new readers as well as a natural continuation of the previous story by devoting most of the issue to character development and foreshadowing. Probably the most consistently good series of any of the New 52 series I've been following. Artwise, most of the issue is by incoming artist, Steve Pugh, with outgoing artist Travel Foreman proving another framing sequence. I like Pugh enough (although he seems to have an obsession with plucky girls with small turned up noses), and he captures the eerie vibe here quite well.

And, yes, the new DC logos are dreadful.
