Wow- I guess I wasn't the only one (not that I really thought i was) that hunted the spinner racks for JLA. Mine was issue #1- I had begun buying DC comics regularly and never could find JLA#1 (or first Cave Carson in B&B). Two books that i did not find until early 70's when conventions and a few comic book stores opened in Silver Spring, MD. I paid $20 for my issue #1 of JLA in FN+ condition around 1973 (someone wrote "#1" on cover in small ink).

Subscription copies- I NEVER could get past the subscription folds. I only ordered Doom Patrol (while it was still under banner of MGA), and vowed never to subscribe again. i guess I should not have complained that much, as I remember my cousin had a subscription to Dell comics in late 1950s, and his sub issues had his name/address printed on the back "advertisement" cover. Perhaps a few had stickers on front too, but my mine is fuzzy on that (well, and a few other things too).

Commander- thanks for the capsule review. I always liked that this was a two-part story. BTW-Superman looks almost like a Kirby drawing in that last panel (I know he was not with DC at that time). I went back to look at a few of the other Superman face drawings, and they almost look so unlike Andru/Espositio (face shots only). One guys opinion- and I have to admit I have not pulled out any older issues to review his face (when he did appear, of course).
