I don't see anything wrong with anybody choosing to live their life without technology. The only thing I have a problem with is when they announce this in a condescending manner, thinking that they are somehow superior to those who do choose to allow technology more into their lives.
I totally understand how infuriating it is when obnoxious twits walk around in public screaming into their bluetooth devices. I feel the same way and would love to do what Walter did to that guy in the first season of Breaking Bad. However, I find that the majority of people with mobile devices DO shut them off in the movies, at the theater, etc. I think the minority of rude people make it seem like technology has turned everyone into rude, selfish, narcissistic jerks.
I don't have any problem with people who choose to live their lives surrounded by tech and I don't have a problem with people who choose to live their lives like the Amish or anywhere in between. The important thing is how you conduct yourself with respect to others around you and I find that, tech or not, only a small minority of people are jerks.
Personally, I find that embracing technology to a degree makes my life easier and LESS stressful, but I think having grown up without it, I have a healthy view of it and don't get too carried away with it.
