Admittedly, the only good thing about VENDETTA IN GOTHAM (other than it was on time) was the neat Mignola cover!
Even the Ventriloquist (a creation of Grant/Wagner which was supposedly going to debut in 2000 AD before he showed up on DETECTIVE) couldn't save this one, which was basically one prolonged fist fight.
That said, I've never understood why earlier collections never included it (presumably because it was the only one which wasn't painted). I mean, DIE LAUGHING does mention it.
(This could be a good moment to mention that all of the Dredd/Batman crossover are firmly in Dredd continuity. Alan Grant had to return Anderson from deep space, cutting short his "Postcards From the Edge" storyline, just so she could appear on DIE LAUGHING, Deputy Chief Judge Herriman died on DIE LAUGHING, and so on...)

Oh, and I agree the first one, by Bisley, was the best of the lot!
(Even though that was probably the moment Judge Death became a caricature of himself)
If you can you should get the original UK edition which was a lot bigger than the American version. Bisley's art really comes alive on those oversized pages!
