Jason, thanks for sending me to Oni's website as well as making me aware of FEMME FATALE. Finding lots of fun-looking stuff there - haven't surfed Oni in awhile, and I will grab a few things in the next month including a Greg Rucka detective chick HC and Frenemy of the State.
Re culling: You'd be amazed at how much going cold turkey for a month or three will NOT bother you. But if that's too much to ask of yourself, then you might consider a few random points.
1. Which comics do you most look forward to reading, as opposed to the ones you buy out of habit or completion? [everyone has said this, but I wanted to add my own voice to the mix]
2. Which creators' work do you most want to support? (provided you like what they're doing currently -- see #1 above) For instance, for me anything with JH Williams, Grant Morrison, Rags Morales, or George Perez are must buys. Fortunately, I really like Batwoman and Superman, so I have no problem buying those books.
3. Which characters' books do you most want to support, if they are perhaps a bit more obscure? For instance, I am buying JL Dark and Batgirl because I support Zatanna and Babs. And I will start buying Avengers Academy once X-23 joins. But again, just because you want to support a character or obscure book, it's still not worth buying if the title is not on your must-read list. (see #1 above) Don't waste your limited money on things you don't REALLY enjoy out of loyalty or habit.
4. Regarding Trades and HCs: What do you think will bring you best value for re-reads? For me, much as I might like to keep buying X-Men trades to catch up on the stories, I don't see myself re-reading them in the future. Fables trades, though, have re-read value for me.
