I have the Briefer Frankenstein book and I really appreciate the way the reproduction was handled. The pages look like comics bought off the rack rather than some slick and sanitized modern reprint. There's a warmth and a genuineness that this method of reproduction imparts to the work which stands in stark contrast to the cold, sterile museum pieces on slick glossy paper that so many reprint projects these days feel like. I'm one of those people who loves the way DC handled their Kirby Demon book--the paper really harkens back to the old comics while the reproduction remains crisp, and the paper stock soaks up the colors appropriately rather than rendering them garish and oversaturated. I'm all for anything that makes these old golden and silver age stories read like comic books, not coffee-table art books--to this day I often feel that Marvel's Essentials reprints are a more enjoyable read than their Masterworks of the same material. Anyway, I commend you, Mr. Yoe, for your hard work. I'll be picking up Powell's Terror next week. Any hints on what the next volume might be?
