thanks much for posts and interest. i thought you might like some insight into our process... at yoe books we spend 100s sometimes 1000s of hours on each book making sure the comics come as close as possible to what a kid in the 40s or 50s would have seen and experienced when they snatched a newly minted comic from a spinner rack! there are no compromises, no consideration for time and expense. comics are meticulously scanned usually on a state of the art scanner costing over 5 thousands dollars that is the kind used by the acme of rare book libraries. one bob powell 8 page story was scanned from 3 different copies of the comic as each copy had some pages better than the others. we've even scanned individual panels from different books and put them together for the finest reproduction. the barney google book was scanned from 4 different collections of the same strips. collectors have generously lent me multiple copies for this process, but i myself time and again have spent astronomical amounts of money to get the finest copies of source material. unlimited time, attention and expense is then taken to adjust blacks and the colors and fix hard-to-read lettering. we carefully address off register or light printing preserving the original feel but making some adjustments if these aspects draw attention to themselves or impede the flow of the story. we do NOT recolor comics, we do not "sanitize for your protection" comics, taking life out of the comics. we carefully balance historical accuracy, art and artifact. we then carefully choose the highest quality paper stock that approximates the original look of the comics while provide long lasting durable reading and archiving. we have many rounds of proofing and have EVEN scraped entire runs of printed and bound books (i.e. "the golden collection of klassic krazy kool kids komics" and "milt gross: the complete comic books and life story") because we were not satisfied with the reproduction. we make sure our printing is crisp and balanced. the binding is top notch. it's sturdy and will last for years for reading and collecting.  feel free to check out our books at http://yoebooks.com thanks again, craig
