I have to chuckle whenever I read how other poster's tell of their parents bringing them to see Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music or some other such  fun-filled frolic.  My parents, in particular good old dad, didn't think too highly of that sort of 'fluff ' (rather like the Major in all those Monty Python skits who interrupts the proceedings cuz they're 'too silly'.) 

Of course, that didn't stop him from taking me to see Alec Guiness in Hitler: The Last Ten Days.  I think I was ten years old at the time ... Laugh
