For many of you, the choice is easy: you buy the hardcovers when they come out and you won't "stoop" to anything as lowly as a paperback copy. And the thought of a black and white paperback sends shivers up your spine.

For others, however, it's not that easy. Maybe you have limited funds, or maybe you've started buying/reading late and need to decide how to catch up. Whatever the reason, some people mix and match, sometimes buying the omnibus, sometimes the hardcover Masterworks, sometimes the paperback, sometimes the Essentials.

But I'm curious how you decide. What drives you to buy the format you buy?

Well I'm getting to learn that "lesser" formats are often perfectly okay after all, it's just that by the time I can spend money on a bunch of stuff there's a chance there's a hardcover out for it. And if not, something else interesting will have it.

Getting Masterworks for stuff you figure wouldn't be Omnibused for years is super easy, format's great as it is.
