I hadn't heard that about Goodman, but it doesn't surprise me at all; from what I have read he apparently did indulge in rather dubious or unethical practices at times.

What you're saying sounds a lot like certain Hollywood film/TV studios which have used very creative bookkeeping in order to deny actors and others their rightful and lawful residuals or royalties.
