That's true.  The difference is that the oil companies aren't going to go out of business anytime soon, while the comics companies are always in a bit of a struggle to stay afloat.  So, I see your point.  Disney doesn't really need the Marvel comics, anyway, all they really want are the characters, for the movies and related merchandising.  So if sales dip, the company that Walt built probably wouldn't hesitate to pull the plug on most of the comics.

I suspect they're more likely to see the comic book division as a seedbed for the rest of the company, and not care so much if it's profitable (the annual budget for Marvel Comics would probably cover the catering bill for a couple of big summer movies)...
