It still sounded as if Kirby wasn't "pitching" in the strict sense of the word. It sounds like he got the assignment from Stan to help create a super-team book. In other words, he didn't first create "Sue Storm" and then took her to Stan saying, "How about publishing this?" Stan said, "Martin wants a super team book. Let's make one."

So as sfcityduck has said, Susan's testimony doesn't really help the Kirby case. He may very well have come up with the Sue Storm name, but he did so in a work for hire arrangement.


I agree that Bissette's heart is in the right place, but a boycott would have to extend to DC Comics and reprints of so many other companies. Why single out Jack when so many other creators never got a fair share of what their creations earned?
