It was mentioned by someone else in the comments at the Newsarama link, but I'm going to mention it here as well - I'm curious what this means for the comic series Transformers Generation 2. I'm not sure how long after issue #80 that was supposed to be (a Wiki article claims a few months, and there was a lead-in to Generation 2 in the G.I. Joe comic which was still ongoing at Marvel between the end of the first Transformers series and Generation 2), but it was meant to be a continuation of the first series - and it was written by Simon Furman. Of course, even that series didn't quite end as Furman wanted it to - he wound up doing a follow-up called Alignment through a fan-produced story to wrap up some dangling plots from Generation 2.

I wonder what Furman will do with the story here - as he says, there were a number of dangling plotlines (Transformers who could no longer 'transform' due to a new energy source they had found) - so I imagine more exploration of that, maybe some setting up of Generation 2... but will there be an incorporation of some elements that have been introduced in the years since then (like the Allspark)?

I'm cautiously looking forward to this - I collected the entire run of the original series and Generation 2 - but I also feel like time somewhat passed this series by. It's going to appeal only to a small segment of fans (myself included among them) - though I guess limiting it to only 15 issues somewhat alleviates that problem. I suppose it's too much to hope that this continuation would be collected in 1~2 TPBs - more likely 5 issues per collected edition.
