Marvel's writing in 60's certainly revolutionized how super-hero tales were told. But I find it difficult to compare the writing between Marvel Silver Age books and EC's. The Marvel books are essentially chapters in a huge story that continues to this day, while the EC's were 6 or 7 page self-contained short stories. I find that this format allowed EC to explore more genres of storytelling and take more risks. There are many EC stories that tackle social issues such as race relations and drugs at a time when no other publisher would do so.
