JMA,

The best deal for the hotel closest to the con (The New Yorker) was offered directly through the convention's web site this year. They offered a very decent group rate which was only available through the con site, which also had options for buying plane tickets. I stayed from Thursday-Sunday and it cost about $152/night (two beds) once all the taxes and fees were factored in, which is very cheap for Midtown Manhattan. So it's about $75/night if you get someone to split the room with you.

I'm a little worried about how the move to April will affect the prices, but as long as the con and the hotel work together to offer the group rate again, it should be OK. Regular rates are normally a little more expensive outside of the winter months, obviously, but I hope the group rate remains the same. Just keep checking the site for updates, tho' I wouldn't expect anything like travel options for quite a while at this point.
