The early Dennis is worthy of his title, hes a fiend, a dangerous little guy. Ketchams art is stylish, plenty of 50s detail, and the gags are often actually funny. This Dennis is related to Wattersons Calvin, full of life and the devil.
The later, reformed Dennis has little in common with the original.
"No book is a regular book without a preface; hence this bundle of junk." - From Mutt and Jeff Cartoons, The Ball Publishing Company, 1910.
